The kids and I have been providing childcare for a bunch of international kids, 5 and under, at our church on Thursday mornings from 9-12. Wow! Can you imagine being 2, 3 or 4 and having your mom drop you off at some strange place with a bunch of people who speak jibberish? That is how I am sure these kids feel. We have several that don't speak English at all and understand VERY little. Then we have a few that understand some but don't speak it and then a couple that are always chattering in between English and Korean or Chinese!
So, having 5 kids in age range from big to little helps breach the gap. Kids can play even when they can't speak the same language and are not so intimidating as us "big" people!
I have been blessed to see how a few of the little children have latched onto one or more of my kids and are great friends now. Abby especially, is a tender little friend to the one little girl - about 5 - who doesn't speak or understand English. The mom told us last time that her daughter talks about Abby and loves her. How sweet. She also likes "the boy with the big eyes"! I haven't figured out if that is David - who has big beautiful eyes or Michael - with his glasses. :)
I do little Bible story each week - try to keep is really simple and pray that they will at least get - "God made animals, trees, and YOU!" and "Jesus loves you".
Well, that's what we've been up to lately. Hope y'all are well and considering all that we have to be thankful for! :)
John 3:16-18
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." John 3:16-18

Psalm 127:3-5
"Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They shall not be ashamed, When they speak with their enemies in the gate."
